If you are wondering what proposals will have a good or bad impact on our hobby here are some observations taken with our hobby as our primary concern.

Prop 20; Transfers Redistricting of Congressional Districts to a Redistricting Commission. Allowing politicians to set their own boundaries is how they control the elections. - YES

Prop 21; Establishes $18 Annual Vehicle License Surcharge to fund state parks and wildlife programs and grants free admission to all state parks to surcharged vehicles - NO

Prop 22; Prohibits the state from taking funds used for transportation or local government projects and services. - YES

Prop 23; Suspends AB-32 Global Warming Solutions Act until state unemployment rate holds under 5.5% for four consecutive quarters. - YES

Prop 24; Repeals recent legislation that allow businesses to carry back losses, share tax credits, and use a sales based income calculation to lower taxable income. - NO

Prop 25; Changes legislative vote requirement to pass a budget from 2/3rd to a simple majority. The problem is not the number of votes but the incompetence of government to stay within their means. - NO

Prop 26; Increases legislative vote requirement to 2/3rd for state levies and charges. - YES

Prop 27; Eliminates State Commission on Redistricting. - NO

1. The California Jobs Initiative (CJI) is an oil corporation farce and fraud. There is no connection, whatsoever, between greenhouse gas emission reduction and the loss of jobs. This notion is an insult o the intelligence of the people of California. In fact, there is job growth in the clean, renewable energy industry. Chevron employs 65,000 worldwide and CJI is not going to change this. The only jobs created by the oil industry are clean-up jobs after oil spills and deep water, blow-outs and pump-handler jobs. CJI will make fantastic profits for the oil industry, increase air pollution, especially in communities around their refineries and there will not be lower gas prices. Koch Industries, Valero and Tesoro are super Enrons. Since when did the oil companies start to show any concern for the unemployed and their families and for small businesses?

2. Mr. Richards is gravely mistaken and his argument makes no sence. The fact of the matter is that AB 32 will cause businesses to close or leave the state of California, thereby eliminating jobs. Chevron may not take a hit, but small buisnesses will not be able to endure the the rediculous regulations placed on them. It's not just about oil. AB 32 will hit every California resident in the pocket book through exorbitant taxes on electricity, natural gas, and other forms of energy as well as increased prices on everyday products due to higher manufacturing and transportation costs. Let us also consider the true effect these regulations will have on the environment. More manufacturing will be moved to countries like China and India where environmental awareness is negligible and coal is in wide use. Therefore, the net impact on emissions world wide will be an increase. Mr. Richards argument is the typical one we've been hearing from those in "green" industries who stand to profit greatly from the implementation of AB 32 while the rest of us are legislated into poverty.

3. The fact is, companies have had a free ride for far too long. Depending on who really wrote this proposition, the benefit is going to be geared more towards big energy, or the wealthy in general. it will definitely not be the average person, regardless of who wrote it. Our interests are not represented in government.
Ford suggesting that companies will up and leave..... lol. Large companies will pick up the slack left by smaller ones. They have subsidies and tax breaks which could cut our national deficit completely.

The whole "green jobs" thing is a farce. While the idea to find alternative and clean energy is noble, banking our economy on it is absurd. We have a huge manufacturing base that can be back into the swing if we found officials with the balls to try to end our involvement with WTO and NAFTA. Then, the green initiative to have our factories use clean renewable energy would create a boon to that surge. Then, those companies that supply clean conversions can go global and make conversions to the factories all over the world that are doing much more damage than we are here in the US.

4. What AB-32 amounts to is a power grab for State agencies. The public has unknowingly handed over control of their lives, based on fear and junk science. Yes, clean air is a good thing, but this has gone too far. AB-32's goal is to bring air quality to 1990 levels. Hello, the air is cleaner today than it was then! The lies these groups are making up to justify their existence is a crime. Here's some examples...
1. With AB-1740 earlier this year, CARB presented the argument that the average street rod puts out 200 times the emissions of a 2005 model car. We did our own testing, and found this number to be 4 or 5 times the amount, not 200.
2. Check out the San Francisco Chronicle article that exposes CARB's diesel emissions study. The figures were exaggerated 340 times, by a guy with fake credentials. A crime in most places, but not here.
And there's a lot more coming. The State will be deciding what new cars you can buy, and reformulating fuels again. Remember MTBE? All of these decisions are being made by a small group of people, supported by self interest. The public has no say in the matter.
"Green jobs" aren't in jeopardy without AB-32, they just won't be subsidized with money we already don't have. Get real, an industry that makes up less than 2% of the total jobs, can't pull California out of a recession. And CARB has to be reigned in, before they bury this state.
